Ever feel like your weekends vanish in a blink? Let's dive into a snapshot of a recent weekend, filled with family, food, and a touch of fall fever – even when it's not quite fall! Prepare for a peek into everyday life, with its chaotic beauty and heartwarming moments.
Friday: My kitchen transformed into an autumn wonderland, even though the calendar said otherwise. I whipped up a hearty kale, sausage, and potato soup, using a rich bone broth as the base. There's just something about a warm, comforting soup that screams fall, right? But since it wasn't actually sweater weather, we balanced it out with a refreshing swim. It's all about that balance, folks!
Saturday: Game Day took center stage! We cranked up College GameDay on an outdoor screen and spent the entire day soaking up the sun and playing games. We even started teaching our little one, Saylor, the intricate strategies of tic-tac-toe. (Spoiler alert: it's more complicated than it looks! lol!) And speaking of action... Briggs, our little daredevil, took a tumble and earned himself an adorable battle scar. Proof that even the simplest days can be filled with unexpected adventures.
Sunday: Time to get organized! I spent the morning meal prepping for the week ahead – a necessary evil, but it saves so much time during the busy week. I also made a big, delicious breakfast to fuel everyone up for the day. Then, The Plumber (that's my husband!) took the kids on a trip to Lowe's. Now, here's where it gets interesting... they always manage to pick out the most hilariously mismatched outfits. Seriously, it's a gift! Ha!
Later that day, we capped off the weekend with an amazing Halloween party hosted by our friends. We stayed until bedtime, soaking up the festive atmosphere. It was the perfect way to end a jam-packed weekend.
But here's where it gets controversial... Do you think weekends are best spent relaxing or being productive? Or is it better to pack them full of activities like we did? I'd love to hear your thoughts! What does your perfect weekend look like?
